'Medusa: Jewellery and Taboos' Exhibition
Where adornment meets sculpture taboos can be formed and this is explored at a new jewelry show in Paris.
The Musée d’Art Modern is opening an exhibition called ‘Medusa: Jewellery and Taboos’ that brings a wide array of pieces together to explore jewels that provoke a strong reaction. While often not considered art because of being decoration for the body, viewers are invited to explore jewels that look beyond tradition and ruffle a few feathers. Almost 300 pieces are grouped by theme: made by artists, designers, contemporary jewellers and antique pieces.
The show opens on May 19th and runs through November 5, 2017 at the City of Paris’ Museum of Modern Art.
