Object: Bright Night Fantasy Bra
The closing piece of the annual Victoria's Secret Runway Show, which took place November 30 in Paris, is the ultra-lavish Fantasy Bra that is equal parts garment and jewelry.
The 2016 edition, called the 'Bright Night Fantasy Bra' was conceived of by jewelry designer Eddie Borgo and executed by jewellers Aziz & Walid Mouzannar. 700 hours were needed to construct the creation that was custom fitted for model Jasmine Tookes to wear for the show's grand finale.
450 carats of emeralds and diamonds are set into 18k white gold and the piece is valued by Victoria’s Secret at $3 million. The cone motif is a signature of Borgo’s and this, along with a more muted color palette, brings some fresh edge to the piece. The last few designs have been exuberantly colorful and often featuring a large centre stone.
While the piece was quite literally molded for Tookes, she did not get to take it home after the show. It obviously limits potential customers, like a ring that you can’t resize, but perhaps one day the right lady and bank account will come along!
