Winter Antiques Show 2017

A grand dame of the antiques circuit, the Winter Antique Show kicks off its 63rd year today when it opens its door to the public.

Antique and estate jewelry dealers A La Vieille Russie, Didier, Kentshire, Macklowe Gallery, James Robinson, S.J. Shrubsole and Wartski are participating this year. I had a chance to preview their wares ahead of the Opening Night party on Thursday and quickly found a few pieces much to my liking.

From just outside the Kentshire booth I spotted a piece with the most lovely colors and it pulled me in. It turned out to be an art deco jabot brooch featuring tourmalines, zircons, morganites, aquamarines and diamonds set in platinum. And located near by were a pair of earrings that would have been perfect for that evening’s event - also art deco platinum set with rose and mine cut diamonds.

In the Wartski booth I was particularly taken with a floral Paul Flato bracelet that is circa 1940, as well as a standout 1900 Art Deco diamond pendant necklace that despite being all white diamond showed a lovely variety of texture and stylish openwork.

The Winter Antiques Show runs January 20-29, 2017 at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City. More Information
