Preview: Christie's First Jewelry Auction of 2017

Christie’s is kicking off its 2017 jewelry year with the first sale taking place in London on Wednesday, January 18.

Signed pieces abound in the 250 lot auction - Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari, David Webb, Boucheron and more - plus dozens of jewel-encrusted watches.

My favorite piece in the auction is the last lot of the day - a beautiful Belle Epoque pendant. Made in 1910, the platinum piece features old-cut and rose-cut diamonds in the traditional garland style the period is known for. While still ornate, this jewel’s scale makes it perfectly chic for 2017 - a dramatic neckline beckons.

Two other pieces I would happily add to my collection are a lively pair of Boucheron ruby earrings that will bring some joy to a blustery winter and an ever-classic mother-of-pearl Alhambra necklace that would look just perfect with an après-ski outfit.

Previews are being held between January 14 and January 17 at the South Kensington showroom. The auction takes place at Christie’s London (South Kensington) on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 10:30am. More Information
